As a certified executive coach, Monifa earned her Masters of Public Administration with a concentration in non-profit management from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte; and bachelor’s degree in Psychology from South Carolina State University. Additionally, for more than twenty years, she has served as a leader within the healthcare industry in a variety of roles, including business development, process improvement, market strategic planning, relationship development and transformational operations.
Being cited as a “leader among leaders,” Monifa has received numerous leadership awards which include: 2020 Excellence in Diversity; “Top 100 Under 50 Emerging Leaders,”; Nations Ford Community Leader Awards; the inaugural Emerging Community Leader Award; Charlotte Chamber of Commerce Distinguished Alumna Award; Carolinas HealthCare System Fire Starter Award; and ten consecutive years of top-tier employee engagement recognition.
Understanding that leadership should also be used to impact the community, she currently serves as: Board of Directors for the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board, which contributes millions of dollars to community wellness programs; Charlotte Community Relations Advisory Council; and Charlotte Regional Business Alliance Power of Women affinity group. Her most life-changing experience was teaching at the Discovery School in Bujumbuura, Burundi where she learned the true meaning of happiness.
